DEIA
Deia is a beautiful village in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca which was made famous by the poet Robert Graves, and in later years by the stars who live and holiday in the hills around the village.

Approached by the most spectacular views along the mountain road, Deia is made up of a main street of small unique shops and A-list restaurants.  Houses scramble up the mountainside towards the church which commands the best views in the village.

Can Gelat is a five minute walk to the village center for your fresh bread and ensaimada (a mallorcan delicacy) in the morning.

The mountains and sea offer wonderful walking, including a path that follows the beautiful coastline or over the mountain all the way to Soller.

Deia has an array of 5 star restaurants and terrific tapas bars.  It is a true food lovers paradise and the best thing is that Can Gelat is only a short walk away from all of them meaning your whole party can sample the Mallorcan wine as well.

Can Gelat is the perfect venue for your guests if you are planning to get married in Deia or have your reception at La Residencia.  It is also ideal for family reunions or important birthday celebrations.  The whole house can sleep up to 11 (8 people in 4 bedrooms plus sofa beds in other rooms).

Deia is beautiful in both summer and winter.  For New Year both the Residencia and Deia town hall put on a spectacular fire work display and all the bars and restaurants are open.  The atmosphere is full of warmth and good cheer and this continues until the evening of the 5th January when the Mallorcans celebrate the arrival of the three kings.  In Deia the three kings make their descent on horseback down the winding path from the top of the tall mountain that towers above the village - torch bearers lighting their way.  When they reach the village the procession winds it way up to the church where the kings give presents to the children.Deia Village

DEIA BEACH
Deia beach is a charming party sandy - part rocky cove with crystal clear waters and two fabulous waterside restaurants.

Cas Gelats is a fifteen minute walk down an ancient donkey path, through olive groves, to the beach where you can enjoy the sun and watch the beautiful yachts sail by.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
There are fabulous secluded places, small coves and rocky outlets to swim all along the coastline around Deia.

Villages are great fun to explore - like Lluc Alcari (picture) which is another mountain village clinging to the mountainside.

Walking groups will love the exciting hikes that start in Deia and painters will find inspiration around every corner as the area has wonderful light as well as magic surroundings with the mountains falling into the sea.

Soller Square

SOLLER
In contrast to Deia, the larger town of Soller is a beautiful working mallorcan town set around a large square.  Here you can relax while having a morning coffee....or maybe eat tapas before shopping down the main street of "La Luna"....and after a little retail therapy catch the old San Francisco tram to the Port !

PORT OF SOLLER
The port is a lovely horseshoe bay which has the actual port at one side and a gorgeous sandy beach at the other.  Coupled with fabulous cafes and restaurants the Port is very popular with families and yachties alike.

VALLDEMOSSA
Valldemossa

Valldemossa is a picturesque mountain village which is a beautiful, if sometimes hair-raising, drive from Deia along the mountain coast road.  It is lovely to explore the streets, visit the small unique shops, see the monastery where Chopin once stayed and generally soak up the atmosphere of this Mallorcan village
